Did you know......
APA Structure & ORD Representatives
(In a nutshell)
I've spoken with many pilots at our ORD Domicile and around the system while conducting our NCN Concourse Conversations and found many members misunderstood just how important domicile elections are. Considering that, I just wanted to reiterate a few important fundamental pieces of how APA works.
National Officers; APA President, Vice President and Sectretary/Treasurer are elected by membership but they only have control of certain committees and the responsibility of running the daily business of APA
Each domicile elects their domicile Chair and Vice Chair
When each base sends their respective representation to the board room, that body of reps becomes "the BOARD of DIRECTORS of APA". As a body, this group makes decisions for the ENTIRE pilot group, not just our individual bases, by overseeing most committees and directing them to act.
This highlights the importance of participation in domicile elections and electing individuals who have the most experience to represent us as pilots. You are electing not only individuals for ORD but also folks who are running APA. Understanding how APA works will only make each of us a better union member. We are ALL APA and we ALL have skin in the game!
